Find the difference

In this blog I ask you to activate your brain. Look at the pictures which are almost identically and find the difference!

Well? Not that easy, isn´t it? I have to confess on both pictures I had the same destiny which was a fitness club in the Einstein street in Munich –my first drive there with my bike you can see on picture one- second try, second picture was the next day.
At my first attempt it took me 1.5 hours and 22 km until I decided I had enough fitness only by biking there. When I arrived back in the apartment in Schwabing I had driven 30 km. The second day, I took a second glance at Google map before starting my second attempt and after 21 minutes and 7 km I found it immediately.

It would have helped if I were not only focused on the main street on my first attempt... However, after 1 year desert & mountains it is tough to live in a major city.

Btw: By now I find my way without any problems – and no map needed…

New Home

Well, it feels strange after 16 months on tour and without a home, since 1. June we have an apartment in Munich.

The jewel is in center of Munich – in Schwabing directly at the Luitpoldpark and between Olympic Park and English Garden.

Michaela drives to the office 5 km by bicycle – so no worries at all. And the next underground station is 400 m from our apartment.

Within the reach of 500m there is a bakery, a butcher, a supermarket and a coffeebar, an Asian supermarket, a repair center for bikes, copy shop, fruit stands, big organic supermarket and an Adidas Original store – and so much more. Starbucks is 1 km away and a Black Beans 1,5 km – fantastic!

From here we will continue to explore our new home Munich. By bike we are in the city center within 10 minutes. And as we are still brand new in Munich we are happy for any tips – so let us know if you have any!

Celebreties

Just for a couple of days we have been in Munich and we have seen so many celebrities we normally see in the whole year.

What happened? Is this common in the ´Weltstadt mit Herz` (capital with heart)? Seems like it. And the best about it – the celebrities as well as the citizen of Munich are pretty relaxed about it.

So whom did see and where and when?

It all started in the Paulaner Biergarten at the Nockherberg when we were watching the Champions League Final FC Bayern versus Milano. We met Gabi and Roland there and while the offered us a chair at their table they also offered us their Wurstsalat and Brezen. That was so kind so we bought them drinks till the end of the game.

During that time we convinced them to stay to watch the match in the Biergarten (originally they wanted to watch it at home), and they convinced us to go to the celebration at the Marienplatz the next day.

Thus the next day we took our bikes and drove from our campground in Thalkirchen to the city center. We were waiting for the FC Bayern Munich soccer players with thousands of other Bayern Munich Fans. It seemed that everyone wanted to make sure that the stars from Bayern Munich received a warm welcome. The difference between most of the fans and us was that we had a very special place – directly at the Starbucks entrance at the Opera. Due to a construction site everything was closed and no viewers were allowed there. However, we got a coffee at Starbucks and as we were in the forbidden area anyway the police officer allowed us to stay there. When the car corso drove by we had a perfect view to the soccer players, trainer, president etc. And when the corso stopped at Starbucks, guess who was sitting in that car? Schweinsteiger, Gomez and Badstuber. Schweinsteiger even ordered a Strawberry Frapuccino! That was sooo cool!

Then all the Teenies came and wanted to get their shirts signed. I went to the car to say ´Hi`to my former neighbor in Unlingen (Gomez). Suddenly I realized that he might not remember me and that it could be a disaster. Thus I left it with pictures of the guys – even if they are little bit blur as Michaela was so impressed by all these celebrities – especially Schweinsteiger – that she could not move.

After that we went to the Marianplatz where Ribery announced that he will stay with Bayern for another 5 years. The crowd was overly excited and they sang the anthem of Bayern München – ‘ FCB Bayern – Stern des Südens – Du wirst niemals untergehen..‘ Goose pimples!!!!!

Next evening we went to a Biergarten with Sandy and Stephan called Hinterbrühl – next to the campground. The Biergarten is next to the River Isar and belongs to the family Wildmoser. Wildmoser? Yeap, that is the former president of the soccer club 1860 Munich. However, what has the Biergarten to do with him? Did it belong to him? Well when I had to pass the entrance to go to the restroom, I saw him sitting there - Karl-Heinz – eating a Schweinsbraten.
