Australian

Our friend David Nenke was till our trip to Australia the only ‘Aussie’ we knew. David is a real character with his rough voice and unique laugh he always reminds us of a sailor.

His Australian accent is still there, even though he lived for some time in Europe and now in the USA. Some years ago, when we heard him speaking for the first time on a conference call none of the Germans could understand him. Michaela took the chance to ask him to slow down, to speak clearer and asked him where the hell he was coming from with that unbelievable strong accent. That was really funny and one of the rare occasions David was kind of speechless. Well, after all he was not too offended and therefore we always enjoy seeing him and btw it is now also much easier for us to understand him. :o) So far we were under the impression that David’s accent is unique to him. No way! When we entered Australia everyone speaks like he does! Several times we turned around in Brisbane thinking David is here, however it was not him. It was someone else talking in the same dialect. Absolutely fascinating!
