20 Years

After 20 years Michaela and Patricia met again in Portland.

Background: Michaela came in the age of 15 to the 'picturesque' city of Buffalo (New York). She lived with the Bleckinger family in order to improve her English. Patricia, their oldest daughter took care of Michaela and both became friends. Patricia visited Michaela in Germany with her family. And Michaela visited her once again in Buffalo. After that they stayed in contact via mail, however at one point they lost sight of each other - for no particular reason. While traveling through North America, Michaela tried to find her via Facebook. However, couldn't as Patricia is married and does not have her maiden name anymore. However, she could find Patricia's sister Christina. So she found Patricia and they started emailing and arranged a meeting in Portland (which is close to Seattle). When we arrived in Portland I had the feeling that both of them had seen each other just one week ago. They immediately connected. It was also good to meet Rick (Patricia's husband) and we all had a fantastic time. Instead of staying at their house for 1 night we stayed 2 and enjoyed every minute with them and their daughter Violet.

We made sure we had Mama Baer, Papa Baer and Michaela's brother Stephan with his kids via Skype included in the reunion.
