Sesame Street

Sesame Street is an old hat for many of us. However, right now it is current as never before. While traveling through the northwest this innovative show was present everywhere. At first we read in the book 'Tipping point' about its completely new learn strategy when it was created. Its impact on our generation: Before Sesame Street no one did believe that one can educate children via TV and really get results out of it. In Seattle Bettina took us to Jim Henson exhibition (founder of the Muppets and Sesame Street) where we met Ernie, Bert, Kermit and many other puppets. Super! Btw. the exhibition took place in the EMP (Experience Music Project). This place has also a permanent science fiction exhibition. The highlights here were the original costumes and devices of Captain Kirk and Spock from the start of Enterprise.

When arriving in Portland we found out that the kids still were very vivid involved with Sesame Street. Violet (Patricia's daughter) loves the show and asks to see 2 shows per day - not one! And therefore it was no surprise that on her 2nd birthday all the Muppets came and celebrated with her. The Muppets even stayed with her so that they can celebrate with her every time when there is a good reason for celebration.

Besides that it can happen that you meet Kermit on the street as it happened to us in Edmonds....
