Seattle

We spent 10 fantastic days in our favorite city Seattle. Each day we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere in the city which is voted as the worth living city in the States (or even of the world) for good reason. Being so close to the Pacific Ocean, to huge Pudget Sound bay, to many lakes and mountains (Rainier and Baker) the climate is very pleasant and it is THE dream for every outdoor lover. Almost every morning we went running at Green Lake near the zoo with hundreds of other people.

For 10 days Bettina had given us her guest room. We were living as a community of 4 - Bettina, Edmond (her subtenant) in the fantastic area of Ballard ad Fremont. The restaurants and coffee bars were fantastic as well. We made sure we enjoyed both of them sufficiently. Thus we integrated into 'normal' life of Seattle. To drink coffee is actually a science here - and a passion for most of the Seattleites (that is how the citizens of Seattle are called). While studying the sewages of cities in the world, scientists found out that Seattle has the highest coffee consume in the world. Therefore, it does not come as a surprise that Seattle is the home of one of the biggest coffee companies - Starbucks. Well, the best coffee we had in the Lighthouse Cafe - a small local coffee which roasts its own coffee. Of course it was in Fremont and was a recommendation of Bettina our fantastic host.

Several times we went to restaurants: Italian, Mexican, Japanese, American, French, Thai and German!

Moreover, we enjoyed 3 BBQ at Bettina's place in only one week. On the menu were lamb, beef and chicken. Yummy!

As we worked for almost 10 years with people in Seattle, we have some friends in Seattle. Of course we tried to meet them.

Here a list of people we met:

Bettina, Peter and Svenja (unfortunately no picture)

Thomas (without picture) , Nate and Bettina (Italian restaurant)

Edmond - in this picture having dinner with Bettina

Christelle, Yigal and Kyle (no picture)

Jeffrey, Emily, David, Will in the Collin's pub downtown Seattle

Jim (no picture) and Martin in a pub and later on Thai food in Fremont

Kevin at a seafood place in Edmonds

Humboldt, Bettina’s cat. He became a good friend of ours (this is a big compliment knowing that neither Michaela or myself are known as cat lovers)

Bettina - our fantastic host. She has given us a fantastic insight of the life of the Seattleites, giving us excellent tips and joined us when meeting people. Thanks a million, Betty!
