„Cash for Clunkers“ is an initiative to help the US economy and especially the automobile industry.The plan was to run it till end of the year, however they had to stop it end of August as already 3 billion dollars were spent. This was the amount Obama had approved. This initiative was more successful than forcasted. Roughly 700.000 new cars were sold and the old clunkers were removed from the street. The nice side effect of this campaign is that Jack is not going to be killed. Understandably, Will thought about handing in Jack to get some money for the old one when buying a new car. However, as they stopped this initiative early, Jack is still with us on our great tour and will retire in Colorado. Long live Jack!
